A 78-second explainer that lifted homepage demo requests by 61%
Vertex needed a product video for its Series A raise and its homepage. We wrote, storyboarded and animated a 78-second explainer that made the abstract product visible — and quietly became the highest-converting asset on their site.
What we owned
- →Script + narrative structure
- →Visual identity + style frames
- →Illustration + rigging (After Effects)
- →Sound design + VO direction
- →Multi-format delivery (site, sales, socials)
Where Vertex SaaS was starting
Vertex is a data-orchestration platform — the kind of product that takes a 20-minute demo to make sense. Their previous explainer was a talking-head founder video that felt more like a webinar. Sales was losing deals in the first meeting because prospects couldn't picture what the product actually did.
What we actually changed
- 01
Interviewed three customers to steal their exact language. Every claim in the script came from a real user's sentence, not marketing.
- 02
Storyboarded before writing final copy — visuals drove pacing so the script tightened to 78 seconds without feeling rushed.
- 03
Locked a two-color palette pulled from the Vertex UI so the explainer felt like a natural extension of the product, not a stock template.
- 04
Isolated the biggest 'aha' — the moment their sync engine collapses three tools into one — and gave it a five-second visual crescendo with a hold on the payoff frame.
- 05
Delivered a 78-second hero cut plus a 30-second paid cut, a silent 15-second social cut and stills of every hero frame for the pitch deck.
What shipped
Placed above the fold on the homepage the video pushed demo requests from 34/week to 55/week within the first 21 days. Sales started sharing it in first-touch emails as a pre-call primer, which shortened average first-call length by 11 minutes.
“We treat them like a partner, not a vendor. They learned our brand in a week and now nothing ships without them.”
